FILM MODE Decrees LAWS OF MAN with Star-Studded Cast, and Makes Market Premiere and Screening in Cannes

New film stars Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, The Grand Budapest Hotel) Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding, Scream VI), Richard Brake, (Kingsman, Hannibal Rising, Barbarian), Jacob Keohane (Halloween Kills, Condor’s Nest), and Jackson Rathbone (Twilight, The Island)

Film Mode Entertainment and Lost Galleon Films are thrilled to announce the new crime-thriller, Laws of Man, and its Cannes World Market Premiere and screening. The newly completed crime/thriller, Laws of Man (fka Without Consequence) stars Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, The Grand Budapest Hotel) Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding, Scream VI), Richard Brake, (Kingsman, Hannibal Rising, Barbarian), Jacob Keohane (Halloween Kills, Condor’s Nest), and Jackson Rathbone (Twilight, The Island). Graham Greene (Wind River, Last of the Mohicans), Keith Carradine (The Power of the Dog, The Duellist), Kelly Lynn Reiter (Deadlock, Maneater), and James Urbaniak (Oppenheimer, The Fabelmans) round out the cast. Laws of Man is written and directed by Phil Blattenberger (Condor’s Nest, Point Man). Producers are Phil Blattenberger, Dan Black, and Jacob Keohane.

The film will have its world debut market screening on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 9am local time at Palais B. Film Mode Entertainment has acquired global sales rights for Laws of Man and is presenting the film to buyers in Cannes for the first time.

In Laws of Man, two U.S. marshals undertake a dangerous mission to arrest Benjamin Bonney, a notorious outlaw wanted for murder. But when an ambush in the desert throws them into chaos, they discover that Bonney's influence and power make his capture impossible. As the marshals navigate assassination attempts and looming catastrophe, they stumble onto a sinister plot that threatens the very foundations of peace and justice.

Jacob Keohane: Jacob Keohane is an American actor and producer. He is best known for Halloween Kills (2021) and starred in Condor's Nest (2023) with Arnold Vosloo and Michael Ironside. His film debut was Vietnam drama Point Man (2018), and he also appeared in the AMC TV series Turn: Washington's Spies. Keohane stars with Dermot Mulroney and Harvey Keitel in the upcoming crime/thriller Laws of Man (2024).

Jackson Rathbone: Actor, producer and musician Jackson Rathbone is best-known for his breakout role as Jasper Hale in “The Twilight Saga” film series. From 2008 to 2012, Rathbone co-starred in the internationally renowned franchise, which has grossed over $3.3 billion at global box-office, propelling him to worldwide recognition. To date, he has starred in over twenty-five motion pictures, including 2010’s blockbuster “The Last Airbender,” an adaptation of the critically acclaimed animated franchise.

 

Rathbone has since crossed genres, spending his time working on his passion, indie films. His recent credits include “Samson” and “Justice.” He can be seen next in the upcoming feature “Heart, Baby!,” which depicts a true prison-based story from the 1980s and will be released in November. He has also recently completed production on “Do Not Reply” as well as the socio-political satire “The Wall of Mexico.” On television, Rathbone has made memorable guest turns on hit series including “The O.C,” “Criminal Minds,” “No Ordinary Family” and “White Collar.” He recently appeared in major recurring arcs in MTV’s “Finding Carter” and TNT’s “The Last Ship.” 

In addition to acting, Rathbone has produced several projects, including the Gotham Award-winning "Girlfriend," as well as the Warner Brothers backed webseries "Aim High," for which Rathbone also received a Streamy Award nomination for Best Male Performance in a Drama. In 2015, Rathbone wrote, directed and starred in the webseries “Couch Surfing, USA,” which achieved an official Marseille Web Fest selection and won the Vancouver Web Fest Award for best comedy. He most recently starred in and co-produced the short film “Horseshoe Theory,” which received a Jury Award at the Slamdance Film Festival, and is currently  guest starring and associate producing the indie feature “Adi Shankar’s Gods and Secrets,” which stars a thoughtfully diverse cast, including Alexandra Billings, Jane Seymour, RJ Mitte, Edi Gathegi, Will Yun Lee, Tiffany Hines and Chaz Bono.

As a musician and songwriter, Rathbone has released multiple albums with his international touring band 100 Monkeys, for which he writes, sings and plays guitar, piano, bass, drums, harmonica, ukulele and banjo. This November, he released his first solo album “American Spirit Blues,” a cross section of Americana, folk and good old rock n roll. The album was recorded at Twin Creeks studio in Austin, TX and features several Austin locals, as well as Rathbone’s own family members. He also has several singles out under his own name, including The Smiths inspired “Let Go Your Majesty” and the ballad “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.” Combining his passion for music and philanthropy, Rathbone serves as an honorary board member for Little Kids Rock, a national nonprofit that works to restore and revitalize music education in disadvantaged U.S. public schools. 

Born in Singapore, Rathbone spent his adolescent years living in Tananger, Norway and Midland, Texas. He is a graduate of the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA and Austin, Texas, depending on the weather.

Harvey Keitel: American actor and producer Harvey Keitel was born in Brooklyn, New York City. Keitel studied under both Stella Adler and Lee Strasberg and at the HB Studio, eventually landing roles in some Off-Broadway productions. During this time, Keitel auditioned for filmmaker Martin Scorsese and gained a starring role as "J.R.", in Scorsese's first feature film, Who's That Knocking at My Door. Since then, Scorsese and Keitel have worked together on several projects. Keitel had the starring role in Scorsese's Mean Streets, which also proved to be Robert De Niro's breakthrough film. Keitel re-teamed with Scorsese for Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, in which he had a villainous supporting role, and appeared with Robert De Niro again in Scorsese's Taxi Driver, playing the role of Jodie Foster's pimp. 

Dermot Mulroney: Acclaimed actor and musician DERMOT MULRONEY continues to captivate audiences with his diverse performances across film and television. Most recently, he can be seen in the Sony Pictures film ANYONE BUT YOU, alongside Sydney Sweeney and Glenn Powell, which has grossed over $200 million globally and is now available to stream on Netflix. Mulroney also stars in Peacock's Lebron James biographical film SHOOTING STARS as Keith Dambrot, James's coach at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and a key figure in his path to superstardom. Throughout his nearly four-decade career, Mulroney has collaborated with renowned directors and starred in iconic projects that have become cultural touchstones, such as MY BEST FRIEND's WEDDING (1997), THE FAMILY STONE (2005), AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY (2013), which earned him a Screen Actors Guild nomination in 2014, and YOUNG GUNS (1988). 

Richard Brake: Welsh born, American actor Richard has an outstanding career spanning the last 30 years across TV and film, frequently appearing in sci-fi, fantasy or horror.  He is famed for his legendary but sinister portrayal of ‘The Night King’, the master of the White Walkers, in ‘Game of Thrones’ and for being one of horror creator Rob Zombie's primary actors.

In 2022 he starred in 'The Munsters', Rob Zombie's big screen adaptation of the classic 1960s spooky TV sitcom of the same name. He played Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang who has been described as "Transylvania's most popular mad scientist".  Also in 2022 he starred in immersive sci-fi movie 'Vesper' about a 13 year old girl and her ailing, paralysed father who are struggling to survive after the earth's ecosystem collapses. Richard played her father, Darius, who communicates with her through a drone. In 2021 he had a prominent part in the Anthony Hopkins action thriller ‘The Virtuoso’ about an assassin hired to track down and kill a dangerous hitman, as well as starring as 'Mr Big' in ‘Bingo Hell’ for Amazon Prime.
 
In 2020 he appeared as Valin Hess in the Golden Globe nominated ‘The Mandalorian’, a live-action TV series, which is part of the Star Wars franchise.  He also appeared in 2020’s Netflix fantasy drama ‘Cursed’, sci-fi thriller ‘Brave New World’, Universal’s action-comedy movie ‘Tremors: Shrieker Island’ and in 2018 Western crime film 'The Sister's Brothers'. He also played The Chemist in psychedelic action horror film 'Mandy' & had a major role in the Amazon Original crime drama series ‘Absentia’. 

Other major TV credits include ‘Peaky Blinders’ (BBC), ‘Ray Donovan’ (Showtime/Sky Atlantic) and ‘The Royals’ (E!).  His movie credits include ‘Kingsman the Secret Service’, ‘The Death of Stalin’, ‘Water for Elephants’, ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘Hannibal Rising’.

Graham Greene: Graham Greene is one of the most respected First Nations actors of his generation. An Oneida of the Iroquois confederacy, he was raised in Hamilton, Ontario, and worked his way through a series of manual jobs, including audio technician for rock bands, before becoming involved with theatre in the late 1970s in England and Canada. He has achieved international fame for appearing in Kevin Costner's Dances with Wolves, which earned him an Academy Award nomination.

Keith Carradine: Keith Carradine has starred in over seventy feature films, five Broadway shows and released two LP Albums of his music. Among his best-known films are Robert Altman’s “McCabe and Mrs. Miller”, “Thieves Like Us”, and “Nashville”, Alan Rudolph’s “Welcome To L.A.”, “Choose Me” and “The Moderns”, Ridley Scott’s “The Duellists”, and Walter Hill’s “The Longriders” and “Southern Comfort”. His song “I’m Easy” from “Nashville” won the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for best song and was a Billboard Top Ten single. His most recent feature appearance was in Jane Campion’s Oscar-winning “The Power Of The Dog” opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst. He stars alongside John Cho and Katherine Waterston in Chris Weitz’ Blumhouse thriller “They Listen” scheduled for release August 30, 2024 and recently completed “Laws Of Man” with Harvey Keitel and Dermot Mulroney written and directed by Phil Blattenberger.

He is married to actress Hayley DuMond with whom he has a son, Sean David Carradine.

Kelly Lynn Reiter: Originally an indie film fixture in her hometown North Carolina, Kelly Lynn Reiter has since experienced a meteoric rise, appearing across Bruce Willis in Deadlock (2021) as Amy Rakestraw. Now a Los Angeles resident, she's found success in a variety of genre films, co-starring with Trace Adkins in Maneater (2022), and across Donald Cerrone in Mojave Diamonds (2022) and Three Days in Malay (2023). Kelly recently completed filming on Laws of Man, starring with Harvey Keitel, Dermot Mulroney, and Jackson Rathbone. In addition to acting, she's an accomplished singer, songwriter, and stunt performer.

James Urbaniak: James Urbaniak film credits include work with directors Hal Hartley, Todd Haynes, Julie Taymor, Richard Linklater, Jennifer Phang, Robert Pulcini & Shari Springer-Berman, Michael Almeryeda, Andrew Dosunmu, Steven Spielberg (“The Fabelmans”) and Christopher Nolan ("Oppenheimer").  TV credits include regular roles on Adult Swim's "The Venture Brothers," Hulu's "Difficult People" and Comedy Central's "Review." Guest appearances on "Better Call Saul," "Made for Love," "The Morning Show," "Dickinson," "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina," "For All Mankind," "Too Old to Die Young." With Brie Williams he co-wrote the scripted podcasts "Getting on with James Urbaniak," "A Night Called Tomorrow" and "I Will Never Lie to You." Forrie J. Smith: Forrie J. Smith is a real-life cowboy and actor most known for his portrayal as Lloyd Pierce in the TV series Yellowstone (2018 to Present). He has worked in the film industry as a stuntman, actor, and occasional extra crew. His first acting role, according to IMDb, was in the 1987 film Desperado, where he portrayed Harley, Calvin’s sidekick. Following that, he played cameo roles in the television series Young Riders,  The Lazarus Man,  Better Call Saul and Midnight, Texas.   And Films:  Rambo III, Hell or High Water, Among Wolves & Dead Man’s Hand.

Phil Blattenberger: Phil Blattenberger is a writer, director, and producer best known for Condor’s Nest (2023) and Point Man (2019). Nominated for Best First-time Filmmaker at the St. Louis International Film Festival, Blattenberger also garnered nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay at the Sydney Indie Film Festival, where his debut Vietnam drama Point Man won Best Film. In 2021 he moved on to helm Voltage Pictures title Condor's Nest, which he wrote, directing the likes of Arnold Vosloo, Michael Ironside, Jackson Rathbone, and Academy Award nominee Bruce Davison. His third film, crime/thriller Laws of Man, stars Harvey Keitel and Dermot Mulroney.
