Justin Martyniuk joins as the Sydney Festival’s new Head of Programs, Lisa Kitching promoted to Head of Industry

Sydney Film Festival (SFF) announces the appointment of Justin Martyniuk as the Festival’s new Head of Programs. Justin has been a core member of the SFF programming team for several years, working alongside outgoing Head of Programs, Jenny Neighbour, and brings over eight years of experience curating film programs.

Alongside this announcement, Lisa Kitching, who has been with the Festival for ten years, has been promoted to Head of Industry and Special Projects. Lisa’s promotion into this new position reflects the Festival’s increasing role as a globally connected film institution, and function as an assembly point for the local cinema industry.

Sydney Film Festival Director Nashen Moodley said, “After an extensive search for our new Head Of Programs, we’re delighted to appoint Justin Martyniuk from within our own ranks. Working with him for many years already, I can attest to his fastidiousness, passion and creativity. The Festival, and our audiences, are fortunate to have him play a key role in delivering the next Sydney Film Festival and beyond.

“Likewise, I’m pleased to recognise the dedication of Lisa Kitching, who has worked extensively across the Festival and the wider industry for many years, by appointing her to the newly created role of Head of Industry and Special Projects,” added Moodley.

Justin, originally from South Australia, began his career at the Adelaide Film Festival before joining SFF in 2018, where he has made his mark with his curatorial expertise and strong focus on diverse storytelling. His promotion to Head of Programs is a testament to his commitment to the Festival and his vision for future programming.

Lisa, in her new role, will spearhead SFF’s industry engagement and special projects, further strengthening the Festival’s industry connections and broadening its influence across Australia’s screen sector. Lisa’s role will also include overseeing the Travelling Film Festival, enhancing its presence across regional Australia.

Both Justin and Lisa will commence in their roles effective immediately.
