'The Pet-Nup' starring Gregg Sulkin, Halston Sage, Emeraude Toubia: Highland Film Group Launches International Sales

Pet Friendly Romantic Comedy Stars Gregg Sulkin, Halston Sage, Emeraude Toubia, Jaime Pressly and Annie Gonzalez

Los Angeles, CA (November 4, 2024) – Set to launch sales at the upcoming American Film Market, Highland Film Group is handling international rights to the charming romantic comedy The Pet-Nup on behalf of producers Javier Chapa and Phillip Braun (The Long Game, Rosario) of Mucho Mas Media.

With production set to begin in early 2025 in Arkansas, the film is executive produced by Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier for Highland Film Group, Sherrese Clarke Soares for HarbourView Equity Partners, Kristopher Wynne and Robert Muñoz.

The film stars Gregg Sulkin (Marvel’s “Runaways,” PBS’ “World on Fire,” Netflix’s “Pretty Smart”), Halston Sage (Twentieth Century Fox’s Paper Towns, Universal Pictures’ Neighbors, X-Men: Dark Phoenix), Emeraude Toubia (Freeform’s hit TV series “Shadowhunters,” Amazon’s “With Love”), Jaime Pressly (DreamWorks’ I Love You Man, 20th Century Fox’s Horton Hears a Who, CBS’ “Mom”) and Annie Gonzalez (Focus Feature’s Drive Away Dolls directed by Ethan Coen, Searchlight’s Flamin’ Hot directed by Eva Longoria.

Directed by Elaine del Valle (HBO Latino’s “Gran’pa Knows Best,” Tubi’s Midnight Hustle), the film is written by Tate Elizabeth Hanyok (Hulu’s Sex APPeal, HBO Max’s Love and Baseball) and follows the hilarious tale of Gabe (Gregg Sulkin) and Daniela (Emeraude Toubia), once blissfully married, who signed a "Pet-Nup" to determine the custody of their beloved Pomeranian, Mipsy, in case things went south, which, of course, they did.

Now divorced, Gabe gets Mipsy only half of the time, and those days are the highlight of his life. While Daniela has moved on with her new, uber-wealthy boyfriend, Gabe's world turns upside down when Mipsy falls for Neon, a hunky Pomeranian, and Gabe finds himself head-over-heels for Neon's even cuter owner, Abbey (Halston Sage). When Abbey casually mentions she’d never share custody of Neon, Gabe panics and fibs about having Mipsy full-time. As the lie quickly spins out of control, Gabe’s buddies hatch a wild plan: steal his own dog!

“We have a terrific ensemble cast of brilliant actors who will deliver the humor and romance in this heartwarming take on the complicated bonds between a man, his four-legged best friend, and his ex, said Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser. “We are delighted to be embarking on our next collaboration with Mucho Mas’ talented producers Javier Chapa and Phillip Braun and introduce this deeply relatable project with broad audience appeal to our buyers,” added Highland COO Delphine Perrier.

"We’re excited to be partnering with Highland Film Group on this heartfelt and hilarious story," said Javier Chapa. "With this amazing cast and the universal love we all have for our pets and our loved ones, The Pet-Nup is sure to be relatable and irresistible to audiences all over the world."
