Time to Go East: Romanian film makers at Berlinale

While Radu Jude's new film Kontinental '25 was part of the main competition and later won the Silver Bear for best screenplay the Romanian presence at the 75th edition was not limited to this.

Further Romanian film makers attended the EFM 13-19.02  under the slogan "Time to Go East: Come see the Romanians"

17 Romanian companies attended once again the Berlinale under the umbrella of Creative Romanian Film Makers coordinated by Mihai Lupu. On the last day of the market the new appointed Ambassador H.E. Stănescu visited the Romanian pavilion in order to find out how she can offer her support from her base in Berlin to the very succesful Romanian film industry.

The event is sponsered by the Romanian Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade, alongside with private sponsors and the Romanian Filmmakers Union, represented by Mr. Laurențiu Damian – president of UCIN.

Saroa Film, one of the companies attending, is currently promoting  the large project "Kingdom of Judas"announcing its premiere on Amazon Prime Video in North America, starting February 14, 2025. This launch marks an important step in promoting Romanian productions on international platforms.

"The fact that we are part of the Berlinale and that Kingdom of Judas arrives on Amazon Prime confirms the impact of Romanian cinema globally. We are honored to represent Romania and grateful to all those who have supported us on this journey, " said Sabina Lisievici the founder of Saroa Film.
