Games have the power to whisk us away to new worlds. It’s an important aspect of interactive media and what pulls us back to beloved titles. Today, we are thrilled to share with you 5 brilliant indie projects from the #ASFF2023 official selection and our first-ever Games Lab. These games transport players to the wonderful islands and woodlands.
The Journey (2020) | Austin Wolfe UK
The Journey is an unnarrated VR story about the underwater route of a whale. Players are invited to engage with certain interactive elements within the experience, all the while being driven by game’s music, visuals and movement.
Sandboard (2022) | Elliot Mann
Sandboard is a VR sand surfing and grappling game. Players get to zip down sandy slopes, fly off boosts and use their grappling tools to propel themselves through the vast badlands, all with a sandboard strapped to your feet.
Wonderputt Forever (2022) | Damp Gnat
A world of wonder awaits you in Wonderputt Forever, which is the mini-golf adventure that follows its incredible, critically acclaimed predecessor Wonderputt. Sit back and enjoy three game modes and unlock amazing rewards.
Nuts (2021) | Joon, Pol, Muuutsch, Char & Torfi
NUTS is a single-player walking simulator. In this surveillance mystery, players are tasked with recording the squirrels, documenting their findings and piecing together what is really going on in the depths of Melmoth Forest.
Mythwrecked (2023) | Polygon Treehouse
You play as a backpacker who is lost on a mythical island. Your task is to befriend the forgotten gods of Greek mythology and restore their memories. Explore the vast world, build strong friendships and save the gods.
