A New Perspective on the Life of Elizabeth Taylor

By: Harry Marshall

Tonight the Cannes Film Festival will reveal Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes, a documentary made from over 70 hours of candid recordings. This new legacy for a classic actress is directed by Nanette Burstein, famous for documentaries such as The Kid Stays in the Picture, and Hillary. In her new project she uses tapes provided largely from Elizabeth Taylor’s own estate to bring a new light to one of Hollywood’s brightest stars. Rather than using second hand accounts and interviews, the film attempts to let Taylor tell her own story with actual footage from her life. The film will premiere tonight at 7:00 at the Buñuel Theatre.
