Punto de Vista reaches out to younger audiences in Pamplona through its mediation programme

The forthcoming edition of the festival is to feature two workshops for children, a new edition of Young Programmers, a film session for families and another for upper secondary students at the Filmoteca de Navarra

This year it is to feature two workshops for children from 6 to 9 years old at Civivox Iturrama and Civivox Mendillorri, which will work with the film archive to create a stop-motion film; the regular film session for families, held in Baluarte on the morning of Saturday 1st March; and a session for schools featuring Knit's Island, a documentary set within a video game, accompanied by a discussion with video game creators. Once again, a new edition of Young Programmers Moving Cinema x Punto de Vista is to be organised, aimed at young people from 16 to 20 years old, to learn how to programme a film festival. The group will present the films they select on 28th February at Civivox Condestable as part of the festival. This is organised in partnership with the Civivox network and the Navarre Youth Institute.

Moreover, the festival has opened the period for entries for the Youth Jury. A group of about twenty people aged from 18 to 25 will select, from all the films in the Official Selection, the Youth Prize for Best Film. Youth Card, through its European programme, will help two of its subscribers from anywhere in Europe to attend as part of the Youth Jury, as well as cooperating with passes and tickets for its card holders.

PUNTO DE VISTA 2025 MEDIATION PROGRAMME

1. WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN AGED FROM 6 TO 12 AT CIVIVOX | THE ARCHIVE COMES ALIVE!

At this workshop, the Drac Màgic cooperative will use the film archive to create a piece together with two groups of children between 6 and 9 years old. We have been living, feeling and experimenting with film for 130 years. Over all this time, moving pictures have been accumulating, but stills, posters, programmes and leaflets also form part of its legacy. So the idea is to take some of these static archive materials and put them in movement. Using the frame-by-frame technique and a multitude of visual ideas, the group will work together to assemble a fun, special new film universe, exploring the possibilities of animating the inanimate.

Practical information:

Friday 28th February from 5.30 to 7.30pm at Civivox Iturrama, and Saturday 1st March from 11 am to 1pm at Civivox Mendillorri. Aimed at children from 6 to 9 years old. Price: 2 euros. Enrolment from 10th to 15th January though the channels of the Civivox network.

2. FILM SESSION FOR FAMILIES (FROM 6 YEARS OLD)

This year once again, Punto de Vista is to organise a film session to enjoy with the family on the last morning of the festival. Several short films will be used to invite children aged 5 and over to live an exciting, fun audiovisual experience, to show that another kind of cinema is possible.

3. SESSION FOR STUDENTS AT THE FILMOTECA DE NAVARRA | KNIT'S ISLAND

On Wednesday 26th February, Filmoteca de Navarra once again opens its doors to Punto de Vista to hold a session aimed at upper and lower secondary school students. The French film Knit's Island, directed by Ekiem Barbier, Guilhem Causse and Quentin L´helgoualc’h will be shown. In it, a film crew in the guise of avatars enter an online video game. There they come into contact with a community of gamers and describe their stories, fears and aspirations.

4. PROGRAMMING WORKSHOP (16 - 20 YEARS OLD) | YOUNG PROGRAMMERS MOVING CINEMA X PUNTO DE VISTA

Jóvenes Programadores Moving Cinema x Punto de Vista is a space for programming by young people aged 16 to 20 who will select and present a special session of the festival devoted to short films. Assisted by film maker Patxi Burillo, a group of young programmers will watch and discuss several films by directors linked to the X Films and Termitas programmes, in order to design the session, to be presented by the same group during the festival. Jóvenes Programadores x Punto de Vista is part of the European Moving Cinema project, set up and led since 2014 by A Bao A Qu and supported by the Spanish ministry of culture.
