Visions du Réel – International Film Festival Nyon : The
program is revealed
The programme of the 56th edition is now online! We are delighted to unveil a rich programme of 154 films from 57 different countries. The 129 new films on show include 88 world premieres and 12 international premieres. Once again, audiences will have the opportunity to dive into non-fiction cinema, through a rich and diverse range of forms, approaches and subjectivities, offering multiple perspectives on reality and its narratives.
Visions du Réel thus confirms its position as the second most important festival in Switzerland for the launch of new films, and as a key international event for non-fiction cinema. In addition to the three guest filmmakers already announced, namely Raoul Peck from Haiti, Corneliu Porumboiu from Romania and Cláudia Varejão from Portugal, Visions du Réel will have the honour of welcoming emerging and established talents throughout its ten days, as well as prestigious jury members. The 56th edition will open with the world premiere of the Swiss film Blame by Christian Frei, in the presence of Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, State Councillor Vassilis Venezelos, and Daniel Rossellat, Mayor of Nyon.

Romanian filmmaker Corneliu Porumboiu is the Special Guest of the 56th edition. Corneliu Porumboiu's appearance at the next edition of the Festival will be celebrated with a masterclass and a retrospective of all his feature length works. Imbued with dark humour, Corneliu Porumboiu's films play with the absurdity integral to Romanian society, which threw off the yoke of communism with the fall of Nicolae Ceausescu and the revolution of 1989, instantly supplanting it with unbridled capitalism. Composed of major works screened in Cannes, Berlin or Locarno, his filmography has made Porumboiu one of the most appreciated and respected European filmmakers of the 21st century.
