Roll out the red carpet for the Filmfest Bremen award ceremony

The annual awards of Filmfest Bremen were presented at the Kleines Haus of Theater Bremen. With 793 submitted short, medium-length, and feature films from 30 countries in 24 languages, the festival received an impressive international response. Among them were 31 debut films, highlighting the festival’s strong commitment to emerging talent. In total, prize money of 52,000 euros was awarded. The festive awards matinée was hosted by the festival directors Matthias Greving, Ilona Rieke, and Marc Sifrin. 

And the winners in the following seven categories are:

HUMOUR / SATIRE

Best Short Film - €1,500 for DO IT RIGHT by Yaroslav Lebedev + Daria Safronova (producer)

Best Medium-Length Film – €2,500:RACHID by Rachida El Garani

Best Feature Film – €5,000:ANOTHER GERMAN TANK STORY by Jannis Alexander Kiefer

INNOVATION

Best Visual Innovation – €1,500:OLIVIA & THE CLOUDS by Tomás Pichardo Espaillat

Best Technical Innovation – €1,500:AVANT – DRAG! by Fil Ieropoulos

Best Narrative Innovation – €1,500:INVENTION by Courtney Stephens

BREMEN AND SOURROUNDINGS

Best Film from Bremen – €3,000:BEFORE THEN by Mengzhu Xue

Best Film from Lower Saxony – €3,000:ANNA – A TALE FOR TOMMORROW by Jonathan B. Behr

Best Short Film from Bremen and Surroundings – €1,500:MAMA MICRA by Rebecca Blöcher, Frédéric Schuld

GERMAN PREMIERES – WESER-KURIER

Audience Award Best International Film – €7,500:SONGS OF SLOW BURNING EARTH by Olha Zhurba

Runner-Up (2nd place in audience voting) – €2,500:L´OURAGAN F.Y.T by Ara Ball
