The programme for the exchange day on April 12, 2025 in Nice as part of the World AI Film Festival (WAiFF)

After the evening of Friday April 11 at the Pathé Gare du Sud, open to the general public, Saturday April 12 will be devoted to discussions on the use of AI in the world of cinema for producers, directors, scriptwriters, investors and experts.

The spirit of this first edition is to share points of view on innovation with the professionals attending, but also to create an environment conducive to its dissemination, encourage twinning and cooperation agreements, and support young film talent.

Round table: AI at the service of cinematic creativity:  9:45 - 10:25 a.m

AI, the new muse of cinema? Filmmaking with AI: tool or revolution? How are directors appropriating AI in the creative process, and what are the artistic and ethical limits? 

Speakers:  Claude Lelouch (director and honorary president of the festival); Julie Gayet (actress-producer); Anna Apter (director); Simon Bouisson (director). Moderator:  Eric Lentulo, Genario.

 

Round table: New professions, new workflows: 10:35 - 11:15 a.m.

Revolution behind the scenes: how is AI redefining film and audiovisual professions? Creating with AI: what skills will tomorrow's cinema require? How are studios and producers adapting?

Speakers: Alexia Laroche-Joubert (President, Banijay France); Marianne Carpentier (Director, Emerging Technologies / TF1 Group); Ludovic Place (Director, ESIS ISA ISFJ / Skolae Group); Gilles Guerra (Director, Founder Prompt Club). Moderator: David Defendi, Genario.

 

Round table: AI and film financing: 11:25 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.

How is AI reinventing film financing? Financing cinema in the AI era: opportunities and challenges? How are AI and blockchain redefining the industry's business models?

Round table: Copyright and AI: 1.45 p.m. - 2.25 p.m.

Towards a new legal framework? Creators in danger? AI-assisted creation: opportunity or threat for authors? This round table will address the important issue of protecting works as AI advances. 

Speakers:  Pascal Rogard (Managing Director / SACD); Xavier Lemarchand (Director coordination and AI integration / INA); Noël Esnault (CEO - ReCut); Patrice Kuban (actor, artist, performer); Alexandra Bensamoun, (Member of the Interministerial AI Commission, lawyer). Moderator: David Defendi, Genario.

 

Round table: The filmmakers speak: 2:35 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

The SRF - Société des réalisatrices et réalisateurs de films, invites four filmmakers to discuss the effects of AI on their directing. Founded in 1968, the SRF represents over 500 short, medium and feature film directors, whether making fiction, documentary or animation. It defends the artistic and moral freedoms as well as the professional and economic interests of the film industry.

Speakers:  Bertrand Bonello (director, screenwriter, composer / co-President of SRF); Axelle Ropert (screenwriter, director); Thomas Coispel (documentary filmmaker, researcher). Moderator:Thomas Bidegain (screenwriter, director).
