Alexander Skarsgard and Mia Hansen-Løve, among the prominent
names at the 70th SEMINCI

The Valladolid International Film Festival (SEMINCI) celebrates its 70th edition from 24 October with a programme packed with encounters with some of the most prominent names on the current film scene. For eight days, the city will become a meeting point for directors, actors and producers who will present their latest works and share them with the public and the specialised press.
International filmmakers
The international programme features a number of renowned masters. Among the most eagerly awaited names are Sergei Loznitsa (Two Prosecutors), Pietro Marcello (Duse), brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (Young Mothers), Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi (Silent Friend) and French director Mia Hansen-Løve, who will receive one of the Honorary Spikes.
Asia will be represented by some very interesting entries, including Bi Gan (Resurrection), Abbas Fahdel (Tales of the Wounded Land), the duo formed by Nicolas Graux and Truong Ming Quy (Hair, Paper, Water...), and debutante Shih-Ching Tsou (The Left-Handed Girl).
Latin American cinema will be represented by Gabriel Mascaro (The Blue Trail), Federico Veiroj (Face to Face), Gastón Solnicki (The Souffleur), Ezequiel Salinas and Ramiro Sonzini (The Night is Fading Away), Joel Alfonso Vargas (Mad Bills to Pay), David Pablos (On the Road) and Carlos Federico Atehortua (Forensics).
The European representation is completed by names such as actress Romane Bohringer (Tell Her I Love Her), Maureen Fazendeiro (The Seasons), Pedro Pinho (I Only Rest in the Storm), Alexe Poukine (Kika), Kaspar Astrup Schröder (Dear Tomorrow), Vladlena Sandu (Memory), Damien Hauser (Memory of Princess Mumbi), Dane Komljen (Desire Lines), Pauline Loquès (Nino), Valery Carnoy (Wild Foxes), Alexander Rodnyansky and Andriy Alferov (Notes of a True Criminal), João Rosas (The Luminous Life), Julian Radlmaier (Phantoms of July), Urška Djukić (Little Trouble Girls), Harry Lighton (Pillion), Leonor Noivo (Bulakna) and Cyril Aris (A Sad and Beautiful World).
The international line-up is completed by American Max Walker-Silverman (Rebuilding) and Iranian Farnoosh Samadi (Between Dreams and Hope). The five short film directors nominated for the EFA awards will also be in attendance.
The jury members will be producer Laurentina Guidotti, Portuguese director João Pedro Rodrigues, Colombian producer Ivette Liang, Argentine Federico Luis, Austrian Alexander Horwath and Lebanese Feyrouz Serhal.
National filmmakers
Spanish cinema will be represented by a wide and diverse selection of filmmakers with extensive careers. From those opening and closing the festival, Isabel Coixet (Three Goodbyes) and David Trueba (Siempre es invierno), to other directors present in the different sections, such as Fernando Franco (Subsuelo) and Judith Colell (Frontera).
The new generation of Spanish cinema will feature Rafael Cobos (Golpes), Carlos Solano (Leo & Lou), Carlos Saiz (Lionel), Ana Serret (Notes for a Consensual Fiction), Irene Iborra (Olivia and the Invisible Earthquake), Gabriel Azorín (Last Night I Conquered the City of Thebes), Pere Vilà Barceló (When a River Becomes the Sea), Guillermo Galoe (Sleepless City), Candela Sotos (Yrupê), Lucía Aleñar (Forastera), Alfonso Sánchez (Pendaripen, the Untold Story of the Roma People), Carolina Yuste and Afioco Gnecco (This Body of Mine), María Ruido (The Factory and Sex), Manuel H. Martín and Amparo Martínez Barco (Bella), Rubén Seca (Los Cangrejos) and Christian Dehugo (Mi sueño cubano), along with television professionals such as Diego San José (Yakarta), Elena Trapé (Yakarta) and Santiago Tabernero (Las gafas de Isabel Coixet), César Vallejo, Ángela Gallardo and Rafael Muñoz (David Delfín. Muestra tu herida), and producers Albert Serra (Magellan), Guadalupe Balaguer (Subsuelo), Marisa Fernández Armenteros and Sandra Hermida (Three Goodbyes), among others.
Outside the programme, filmmakers such as Isaki Lacuesta, Adrián Orr, Benito Zambrano, Elena López-Riera and Paco Roca will participate in various activities or as part of the jury. The Women Filmmakers' Meeting will also bring together directors Paula Ortiz, Mar Coll, Inés G. Aparicio and Amparo Climent, as well as producer María Zamora and screenwriter Valentina Viso.
Performers
The international cast of performers includes Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård (Pillion), Iranian actress Fereshteh Hosseini (Between Dreams and Hope) and Cuban choreographer Lizt Alfonso (Mi sueño cubano).
Spanish performers will have a notable presence throughout the festival. In addition to Luis Callejo, recipient of the Honorary Spike Award, the following actors will attend alongside the casts of their films: Luis Tosar (Golpes), Laia Marull (When a River Becomes the Sea), Álex Brendemühl (When a River Becomes the Sea), Lluís Homar (Forastera), Francesco Carril (Three Goodbyes), Miki Esparbé (Frontera), Asier Etxeandia (Frontera), David Verdaguer (Siempre es invierno), Amaia Salamanca (Siempre es invierno), Isabelle Renault (Siempre es invierno), María Rodríguez Soto (Frontera), Sonia Almarcha (Subsuelo), Itzan Escamilla (Subsuelo), Diego Garisa (Subsuelo), Julia Martínez (Subsuelo), Íñigo de la Iglesia (Subsuelo), Jesús Carroza (Golpes), Teresa Garzón (Golpes), Claud Hernández and Zoe Stein (Forastera).
Among the youngest will be Ona Bagué and Biel Pato, child stars of Irene Iborra's film, as well as Lionel Corral Bernal, Lionel Corral and Alicia Corral, from Lionel. Rounding out the national cast are Maggie Civantos (Leo & Lou), Isak Férriz (Leo & Lou), Julia Sulleiro (Leo & Lou), Manuel Manquiña (Leo & Lou), Ingrid Rubio (Our Home's Cigarette Butts), Oriol Cervera (Our Home's Cigarette Butts) and Carla Nieto (Siempre es invierno); artists Lolita Flores (Pendaripen), Alaska and Mario Vaquerizo (David Delfín. Muestra tu herida), alongside the stars of the series Yakarta, Javier Cámara and Carla Quílez.
In addition, actress Blanca Portillo, singer Esperanza Fernández and musicians Niño de Elche and Alondra Bentley will participate in various galas and presentations.
