Singapore has as its Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-charge of Smart Nation and Cybersecurity at Ministry of Communications and Information, Mrs Josephine Teo. That factor adds that extra special beam to this Spotlight on Women and Youth in Tech. Mrs. Teo has held this post for just over three years now. She is also a member of the National Jobs Council and the Future Economy Council, and has been concurrently the Second Minister of Home Affairs since May 2018.
An alumna of Dunman High School and Raffles Junior College, Mrs Teo graduated from the National University of Singapore, winning several honours, including the Rachel Meyer Book Prize for being the Best Woman Student. She obtained a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics, on scholarship, from the Economic Development Board.
Another speaker who will throw spotlight on the subject is Akanksha Jagawani, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at SixSense, a pioneering Deep Technology company, based in Singapore. With a background in mechanical engineering from IIT, Gandhinagar in India and research at esteemed institutions, including A*STAR, Akanksha kick-started her career as an Automation Software Engineer at Altair Engineering. Recognising un-met needs in manufacturing, she ventured into startup leadership after guiding digital product design teams at multi-million dollar ventures. Her journey culminated in co-founding SixSense.ai, where she merges visual AI to revolutionise manufacturing decision-making.
