ECHOES OF OUR ANCETORS
‘Echoes of our ancestors’ (www.PeopleOfAr.org ) is an epic musical and visual odyssey that celebrates Armenian history. It features an incredible lineup of artists, including Serj Tankian, Tigran Hamasyan, Sebu, and Isabel Bayrakdarian, all led by maestro Sergey Smbatyan. This one-night event, at the Greek Theatre on September 12, aims to honor our heritage and revive our collective memory. As it’s written on their promotional site: “We are not a forgotten people, We are the Echo, We are the Flame”. Such a moving quote that captures the strength, the essence, the alive and kicking soul of the Armenian people who went through some much suffering in their history and even not so well not-so-well-known genocide. France, and I’m proud to be French, was the first country to recognize the Armenian genocide (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenian_genocide ), but today, with this splendid production, it will be all about celebrating the more than “alive and kicking” proud Armenian people. What you can expect on that magical night of September 12th is a blend of live orchestral music, traditional Armenian folk melodies, immersive visuals, dance, and symbolic storytelling. “This is more than a performance – it’s a powerful reawakening of cultural pride, a tribute to resilience, and a stirring reminder of who we are,” says creative director and author of the project, Arman Nshanian. “It’s a ritual to return – for our people and for anyone longing to remember their roots.”
