“A Break In The Rain,” by Don Scardino, World Premieres at the 26th Annual Woodstock Film Festival

“A Break In The Rain,” a new independent film directed by Don Scardino, will have its World Premiere at the 26th Annual Woodstock Film Festival on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

Filmed in Upstate New York in 2024, the cast features Michael O'Keefe, S. Epatha Merkerson, Emily Donahoe, Will Chase, Mary Beth Peil and Elizabeth A. Davis. 

About A Break In The Rain:

After 10 years on the road, Jake (Michael O’Keefe) returns home for his son’s funeral. Facing a family he doesn’t know, Jake decides to stay and take a job driving for a small local car service. One rainy night, he picks up singer Catriona Walsh (Elizabeth A. Davis) at the airport and drives her to a gig. Jake and Catriona develop an unexpected friendship that forces them to face the lives they are running from, and chart a new path forward.

Following the 7:00 PM screening will be a Q&A with the director, screenwriter Dana L. Williams and cast, plus a live performance of the original music (by Elizabeth A. Davis -Tony Award nominee for ONCE - and Don Scardino) featured in the film. Performing as ‘The Catriona Walsh Band’ will be Davis, Scardino and New York musicians John Miller (bass), Larry Saltzman (electric guitar), Andy Ezrin (piano) and Clint DeGanon (drums).

About the Director:

Don Scardino’s feature films include OUR (ALMOST COMPLETELY TRUE) LOVE STORY, ME & VERONICA, ADVICE FROM A CATERPILLAR, and THE INCREDIBLE BURT WONDERSTONE. Don is a multiple Emmy Award winner for producing and directing TV's 30 ROCK, and has directed and/or produced multiple episodes of ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING, NEW AMSTERDAM, MURPHY BROWN, THE UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT, 2 BROKE GIRLS, YOUNG SHELDON, THE WEST WING, RESCUE ME, COSBY, and many more. He also directed A FEW GOOD MEN and LENNON on Broadway, won an Obie for directing A CHEEVER EVENING, and was the Artistic Director at Playwrights Horizons in New York City for five years.
