The seven films that will be part of the international competition are:
-Cinema Before 1300 (Jerome Hiler, 2023, USA).
-Bonjour la langue (Paul Vecchiali, 2023, France).
-Film annonce de film qui n’existera jamais de (Jean-Luc Godard, 2023, France).
-Frente a Guernica (Yervant Gianikian, Angela Ricci Lucchi, 2023, Italy-Spain). Spanish premiere.
-Gli ultimi giorni dell’umanità (Enrico Ghezzi, Alessandro Gagliardo, 2022, Italy). Spanish premiere.
-Leme do destino (Júlio Bressane, 2023, Brazil). European premiere.
-Oú sont tous mes amants? (Jean-Claude Rousseau, 2024, France). Spanish premiere.
The equally prestigious jury that will award the prizes in the International Competition will include Austrian director Ruth Beckermann, director of The Dreamed Ones, Mutzenbacher and The Waldheim Waltz, among other contemporary classics; American filmmaker and teacher Bette Gordon, director of the iconic Variety and Handsome Harry; and curator and editor Benjamin Mirguet, who has worked on films such as Batalla en el cielo, and Dau, among many others.
The programme of the international competition is in addition to the previously announced retrospectives and special screenings that will make up this edition, including cycles dedicated to the work of William Friedkin, Leon Hirszman, David Gladwell, Viola Stephan and a special screening of the film As armas e o povo, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.
